The Dulwich Sports Ground – Use of Practice Net Facilities For Rent or For Hire London
Southwark Community Sports Trust at Dulwich Soorts Ground is pleased to announce the opening of a high quality three lane practice netting facility at the Dulwich Sports Ground which is available for hire or rent, please book in advance..
The new cricket netting facility have been made possible by a significant grant from Sport England Inspired Facilities Programme together with further support from the Lord’s Taverners.
The works have been undertaken by Sports Turf Ltd. which is the longest standing ECB approved supplier of such installations. We are grateful for the input in the design from Derek Underwood, latterly President of the MCC and a former Test cricketer.
The surfaces are very true and will benefit from having excellent drainage through being laid on a clinker surface that was once a tennis court. The nets have a height of 14ft the cages extend to 20 yards with the total length being 33 yards.
Our aim is to encourage the use of the facilities in order to increase participation in cricket. At the same however certain rules and protocols need to be established in order to protect the not inconsiderable investment that has been made in our facilities.
Cricket Net Guidelines and Prescriptions
1) The facilities will be open to anyone who is interested in booking or hiring them. In particular, we encourage the use by schools and youth clubs in the South London area. Priority booking will be given to members of Southwark Community Sports Trust.
2) In all instances the cricket nets will be booked for and paid for in advance. For bookings and enquiries please contact John Smith
3) The cricket nets are protected by lockable gates. Keys will collected from John Howard at the club 30 minutes prior to commencement of a session or otherwise by arrangement.
4) Each user will designate a ‘responsible person’ whose responsibility it is to:
a. Collect the keys
b. Collect sets of spring back stumps
c. Ensure that no player wears METAL SPIKES within the facility
d. Lock the gates, return the keys and the spring back stumps
e. Report any damage or problems with the cricket nets
5) Any player found wearing metal spikes will be immediately removed from the facilities. The Trust will reserve the right to take whatever action it sees fit against the Club or association involved including prohibiting future use. Please understand this is simple common sense but the damage done by one act of stupidity warrants these recourses.
6) These rules sit alongside the general Rules of Operation with regard to good manners, good neighbourliness etc…
7) Users of the nets are expected to maintain care when playing in the nets so that other users of the facilities are not hit by cricket balls. Safety netting has been installed but users are reminded about the care of attention to other users or spectators.
8) The nets will not be available during Saturday and Sunday match times. If a club wishes to use the facilities prior to a match this can booked in the standard manner.
CRICKET NET BOOKING TARIFF / RENT / HIRE
To avoid complication rates charged are for exclusive use of the whole of the cricket nets (all three lanes) irrespective of the number of cricket net lanes to be used.
