COVID-19 and PANDEMIC CRICKET UPDATE

Please read and familiarise yourselves with the ECB Guidance below.

SBCC are very aware that regulations and restrictions may change prior to the start-up of the cricket season.
SBCC ask all our members to keep aware of the changing regulations and how they may impact their own actions.

Please make sure you are all familiar with the requirements detailed below and any additional requirements that may be announced by the Government at short notice.

There are some key areas that affect our cricket net sessions.
  • All players must turn up with their own equipment including cricket balls,
  • Number of players per net must be limited to 6 including the batsmen,
  • Players are not to pick up or field other bowlers cricket balls, if this happens by accident then hand sanitizer is to be used to clean hands and ball, with the exception of the batsmen who is wearing gloves.
  • No meeting or mingling on Dulwich Sports Ground (DSG) outside of the arranged and agreed nets sessions.
  • NETS WILL BE EVERY WEDNESDAY 3PM ONWARDS STARTING FROM THE 31st OF MARCH.
  • Players practising away from the nets should also be aware of the rule of group of six and are not congregating in groups larger than six.
  • We ask all South Bank CC players to continue to be aware of all the Government social distancing guidelines whilst on the ground and whilst using the nets.
  • We expect all SBCC players to observe all the hygiene requirements suggested by the ECB including no sharing of equipment including cricket helmets, balls and bats, and the use of hand-sanitiser. etc
  • Players feeling unwell or are displaying any of the COVID related symptoms SHOULD NOT attend the net sessions. And anyone displaying these symptoms will be turned away.

PLEASE NOTE
In addition we have been asked to make sure that we do not use muddy shoes in the nets, this may inturn also limit bowling run ups, especially as the ground is still quite wet.

We now have access to our ECB PLAYCRICKET.COM website

PLEASE NOTE
We are currently in the process of updating all of your SBCC stats on to the website play-cricket.com.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help upload all of the years of scorebooks we have on to the ECB Play Cricket website.

Please contact Zach Mendelsohn, Mike McIntyre (Sat) or Harry Fawkes to register your help.

It is our hope that by the beginning of the 2021 cricket season SBCC can add fixtures, score via the  app and upload the results live or post match to https://southbankcc.play-cricket.com/home page.

The latest All Time and Season Stats for South Bank CC can be found here https://southbankcc.play-cricket.com/Statistics

Dear all players, past, present and previous,

SBCC now have access to https://southbankcc.play-cricket.com/ website.

Please create an account or login to your existing acccount and add Southbank CC as your Crciket team.

But please note we are registered as Southbank CC (surrey) for the moment. NOT South Bank CC as should be, clerical error from decades ago! And alas there is another team with same name to Make things worse.

So please create your own personal account and we can consolodate all of your other accounts, listing, performances .past and present.

The hope is that come 2021 SBCC can score and store everything online using the app.

Hi All,

Southbank CC
are back on Play-Cricket.com! What is Play-cricket.com? It's a website that allows us to pick teams, inputs all scores, and update all the stats from games.

Here's our new site: http://southbankcc.play-cricket.com/ and we've started to input some games already.

So why this email? Well, we need two things from you.

1) For you to sign up to Play-cricket.com and join "Southbankcc"
2) For 2 or 3 volunteers from the Saturdays to be admins and start to upload scores

------

Signing up:

- Go to http://www.play-cricket.com/ and in the top right hand corner, click "Sign In
- At the bottom of the next page, there's a link, "New to Play-cricket? Click here to register"
- Fill out the form, and say you play for Southbankcc in Surrey
** For those of you who have played for other teams and are on the system, please drop me a separate note, and I can request your details from that club

What will happen next? Zach or myself will get a notification to accept you as a Southbank Member. We'll then merge your new account with the current records.

-----

Saturday Volunteers

- The system is pretty easy to learn, and once you've got the hang of it, takes between 20-30 minutes per game to upload
- Some of the games are already in the system as other teams use Play-Cricket
- Would need a 20 minute call to show you around the admin
- Access to the scorebooks
- Let Zach or myself, and the Saturday captains know if you are interested!

Have a good weekend all and let's hope all this lockdown is over for winter nets...

Many thanks,

Harry and Zach

Cricket Training at DSG
DULWICH SPORTS GROUND
To SBCC members – South Bank Cricket Club gives the following advice to users of the cricket nets for training during the Covid-19 Pandemic
We explicable note that SBCC members should follow Government guidance on social distancing and the use of public transport and particularly regarding those in vulnerable groups or within households that have vulnerable people or persons;

We wish to additionally NOTE the following government guidance in relation to attending SBCC nets at Turney Road.

PLEASE NOTE
Any such flouting of government and indeed our local rules and guidelines will mean that individuals will not be allowed to attend subsequent training or net sessions and may have their membership revoked.

Try to NOT use public transport when attending practice nets, i.e. walk or cycle. We do not want to put an extra burden on the public transport systems and also increase rates of infections. Where possible use face coverings.

ONLY meet the designated 1 person per day in a public outdoor space and in addition maintain the 2 metre social distancing rules at all times.

DO NOT go out or attend the SBCC practice nets if you display any of the associated symptoms of the coronavirus and indeed self isolate.

DO NOT attend the SBCC nets if you have been in proximity to anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 14 days

DO NOT ATTEND the SBCC nets if you have in your household anyone who is deemed vulnerable under the government guidelines. In short, but please see guidance, anyone within your household who has an underlying illness or condition that may increase the risk of hospitalisation and indeed death with contraction of coronavirus particularly covid-19.

Explicit Advice to SBCC Players
If you are experiencing any symptoms of a cold or flu, in particular a cough or high temperature. Use the NHS helpline and seek advice. For your own protection, follow the advice about self-isolation, if you are, or are living with, someone in one of the vulnerable groups.
You should only play with people from your own household or by yourself or, as long as you stay 2 metres apart, with one other person from outside your household. Groups of more than two people must all be from the same household. This means you cannot have two or three people from one household plus one person from outside the household playing together. But two people, from two different households, can play together as long as they stay 2 metres apart.

Any activity should be in line with the Government’s social distancing measures at all times, including when going to and departing from the net.

Wash your hands and clean any equipment you use before and after you play.

When setting up and taking a net, only one person should handle any particular gate or stumps with gloves on.

  • Clean padlocks, keys and door handles before and after use.
  • Avoid using toilets wherever possible and clean after use.
  • Wash hands before and after

You must book prior, do not turn up in the hope of being able to play or practise.

If possible, dress appropriately prior to travelling to the club, rather than changing there.

Bring any food or drink you might need. DO NOT SHARE

SBCC Coronavirus Update

4/15/2020

Cricket Coronavirus UpdatePicture
Dear all South Bankers,

I hope you’re all okay and keeping fit and healthy.

Given our first round of SBCC fixtures were due to start next weekend, we thought it best to share an update with you as to where we are today and the latest correspondence we’ve had from the ECB (English Cricket Board) with regards to recreational cricket this summer.

As you are probably all aware. following Government advice, all forms of recreational cricket have been suspended, with an initial suspension date of the 18th May (including all games, nets and training). This may change as events unfold and the powers that be decide when and how the relaxing of social distancing measures will impact our cricket season. Obviously we all hope that we are back playing as soon as possible and we will keep you updated as and when we hear more from the ECB but our best (optimistic!) guess today is that we’ll be back playing cricket by the end of May/beginning of June - albeit we may have to follow government hygiene guidelines which may mean we have to alter our approaches to match teas, the bar etc.

Obviously, the ongoing situation is having a significant operational and financial impact on the Trust (SCST) who manage DSG and which JT sits on the Board of (alongside representatives from the other member clubs who use the ground). DSG is currently closed to the public (no sport or social events permitted), although the sports contractors and groundsmen are continuing to prepare and maintain the pitches so we are ready to play and get some revenue into the Trust (SCST) as soon as we can. The cricket club still has its expenses and needs our support more than ever during these challenging times so can those who have yet to do so, please pay their subs.

The cricket fixture secretaries have done a great job (as always!) of filling our fixture lists and we look forward to getting the season up and running as soon as we can. Our current plan is to cancel games on a weekly rolling basis with our opposition until we have more visibility as to when we might be back playing. Zach has kindly offered to keep our website

https://www.sbcricketclub.co.uk/  up to date until the season is up and running.

On a final more cheery note, we have now had 2 successful virtual quizzes (hosted by Matt Ireland and Giaco respectively) via Zoom since the lockdown was enforced, which have been great fun and provided the opportunity to catch-up with our teammates over a drink! Other halves, friends and family are welcome to join (and in my case required to come close to a respectable score!). As far as I’m aware, we haven’t pencilled in a date for our next quiz but we will be in touch as soon as we have and look forward to seeing as many of you then as can make it.

Thanks and stay safe!

England & Wales Cricket Board info@ecb-comms.co.uk

We hope that you and your family are keeping safe, staying at home and remaining healthy during this uncertain period. We've been absolutely overwhelmed by the positive response to this crisis that we've seen from the recreational cricket community.

By now, your clubs and leagues should have received a number of messages from us here at the ECB regarding the situation and what it means moving forward. We have no doubt that these messages have been filtered down through your club channels, however, we wanted to contact you, as a player, directly.

Following Government advice, all forms of recreational cricket have been suspended. We're currently working through a number of scenarios, with our club volunteers and players at the heart of our decision-making.

We will continue to be in regular contact with you over the course of the coming weeks, to keep you entertained and staying positive; we'll have some incredibly exciting content to share with you.

Cricket is a game for everyone, and we cannot wait for the time we'll be able to take to the field again. In the meantime, stay close to your club community and look after yourself and your family.

To read the communications we've sent out to clubs in full, please head below, and do not hesitate to get in touch with our helpdesk or your local County Board if you have any more questions.

Go well.
